Update: I have uploaded the UAFaker.plist file that Ali has generously posted. You can download it from the BOX on the right, and SSH it into your iphone.
I haven’t tried this personally, but Ali claims that he managed to fix safari browsing on alfa.

His solution makes a lot of sense, since alfa may be blocking the iphone web browser among others, so by following his solution u will be tricking alfa into thinking u are not on an iPhone.
So guys go ahead and search Cydia for UserAgent Faker and download it, u can then activate it from sbsettings u may want to try it before editing the file Ali mentioned.

i tried this fix on alfa line…its not working
the thing is that the settings of uafaker.plist are already set as shown above
and i tried to modify kill safari to 0 but its not working
any suggestions
anyone make safari works on alfa wap??

UAFaker without editing UAFaker.plist won’t work because it change the user agent to mozilla by default and alfa of course block firefox so you should edit it to none and I want to add something that tethering can also be done by using a program called PDAnet but also browsing on pc won’t work because the useragent problem and the solution is using firefox and faking UA by entering about:config as an address in the address bar of FireFox, the location where you normally enter a URL (link). and press the right mouse button to get the context menu and select “String” from the menu entry “New”. Enter the preference name “general.useragent.override”, without the quotes. leave the second case blank and enter …. Now ur browser should work but don’t forget to edit proxy in firefox to 192.168.023.050:8080

Really thanks, Ali. I had tried changing the user agent, but I changed it to Mozilla and didn’t didn’t work, so I thought that’s not it, but didn’t think about leaving it empty!!

Blank User Agent didn’t work for me for some reason, it was exactly similar to the rapidshare link, but still didn’t work.
Anyway, I put some other phone’s UA and that worked fine, so if blank doesn’t work for you, try this user agent:

Hey Ali,
i would like to make a custom “UAFaker” deb file, with the “UAFaker.plist” that you provided and post it on my repository “http://apt.rachini.com” so do you agree ? and did you create this file or someone else did ?
I’m asking just for the record so i can put it on my repository and avoid the flow of emails claiming they made it.
I already finished the deb file just need the permission, and BTW you’ll be credited in the information section, so let me know the name that you want to be credited with.

well UAFaker.plist is the setting file of UAFaker plugin soo i’ve just edit the useragent section so basicly i create it … i don’t think someone knew this tweek before and i was afraid to publish so wouldn’t alfa block it but now i figured out another port forwarding and tunneling complicated method and decided to post the easy method only sooo i give u my permission and plz credit it to Ali Mohamad…

i know that the .plist file is already in the uafaker deb package.
I just wanted to know if u had the idea to change the value to blank, but after some research i found out that this option was initialy in the 1.0 of uafaker so i cant credit it to you anymore, sorry but clearly someone else got to it before you.
i already mentioned your name in the package on my repository http://apt.rachini.com but i’ll be removing it soon when i have the time coz i already got a couple of emails complaining bout the credit.
anyway for all wap users on mtc (coz i never had an alfa line and no one of my friends has one) one of my friends “elbosni”, an LAU computer science student is working on some kind of port forwarding on the iphone. for now he managed to play pocker over edge as he claimed.
and he is still working on making the push notification work on wap by doing the same thing he did with zynga pocker application.
when its done, its not gonna be free and we refused to put it on the repo coz sooner or later it’ll be cracked all over… but its gonna be provided for users manualy by custom compilation so that it’ll only work on one phone when installed. for now nothing is certain it might not work for all port.
pray for “elbosni” to be able to finish it.

it was just an idea to change the value to blank and i wasn’t intend to get safari work in first place i was just wanted to make tethering work on pc .. i tell u again it was just an idea and i wanted to make it easy to people and show them the trick …. about ur friend i worked on such thing and i knew that the server working on alfa wap is a MAG server so i did some research and found out how it works and by port forwarding a blocked port to port 80 i made a tunnel and managed to make push notification work on wap also bypassing the 20MB limit that alfa had and got the range of other alfa wap ip addresses whos working on iphone and got ssh connection… anw i thought it was a good idea to share some knowledge with others but i maybe i should think about twice next time

i told u i had the idea to change the value to blank or even use the symbian browser useragent it’s nothing magic ba3den i’m not saying i’m the first one who figured it out but i’m the first one to publish the idea on public and for {FREE} at least appreciate this … did someone read about bypassing safari browser on alfa wap anywere else !?!? .. secondly i finished ur friend’s work and got push notification work on edge even i bypassed the 20MB limit… also i made truly fast data connections between iphones by wap… i thought i’ll explain the idea and publish it but maybe i should think twice

yes i didn’t say it wasn’t your idea Ali, all what i said is that someone else did it and it was published a long time before you, so logically the credit goes for them.
anyway the guys who emailed me bout the credit are not even Lebanese so i was trying to convinced them that the credit is not bout the idea of changing the value to blank, but the discovery that this change can trick the alfa blockage.
about the free part, well ya thanks for that, but when you give you shouldn’t expect anything back.
my friend’s work, I’m sure you finish all that, and its up to you to make it public or not its no one’s business.

i cant say that Ali discovered this tweak but her surely discovered the trick so i am proud to credit Lebanese guys for discovering the solutions for our own “Lebanese” issues. this is not the first time some Lebanese guy discovers something or even creates something on his own.

i activated the MTC WAP on my iPhone and it worked perfectly except whatsapp since it uses push notifications, so is there any solution where i can use whatsapp through WAP????

tab i found out half a solution:
install “Push Doctor” from Cydia (repository: http://cmdshft.ipwn.me/apt/)
when u remove the SIM card, push notifications work, but the problem is when u insert the SIM card again, it lasts for few mins, around 2 mins or even less and then push notifications stop! i want to use WAP not WiFi so i need to insert my MTC SIM card!!!!!!!! how can we solve this issue? :S

i got into the dir of my iphone using winpcap and i searched for .mobileconfig
and i got some results
/System/Library/Carrier Bundles/Swisscom_ch.bundle and the file is profile.mobileconfig
/System/Library/Carrier Bundles/Softbank_jp.bundle and the file is also profile.mobileconfig
so what i should do with the file :S:S:S please ur help

Since you are the first to publish your work for safari, why don’t you show us how you managed to bypass the 20 megs limitations and push notifications over wap?
I’m really glad that we have smart ppl like you. Port forwarding would do if we force all push ports over http port, but we’re still under the limitations…
